Boca Raton man, woman killed in car crash in west Boca Raton

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — A driver and a passenger from Boca Raton were killed Tuesday afternoon in a crash with another vehicle, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

Daniel Polo, 36, and his passenger, Elizabeth Polo, 66, were killed in a crash in the 7900 block of Glades Road in West Boca Raton at 2:10 p.m., the PBSO said. Elizabeth’s address is different from Daniel’s.

Daniel Polo drives a 2015 Nissan, heading east on the Glades near the turnpike entrance.

Alexander Spandau, 29, of Boynton Beach, was driving a 2018 RAM truck heading west in the Glades, also near the turnpike entrance.

For unknown reasons, the Polo failed to negotiate the bend in the lane to enter the southbound turning lane, then climbed onto the median and entered eastbound traffic.

Spandau’s vehicle collided with the front bumper of the Nissan.

The Ram spins 90 degrees counterclockwise on impact, and the Nissan is pushed back violently.

Daniel Polo was pronounced dead at the scene and his passenger was pronounced dead at Delray Medical Center.

Spandau was also taken to Delray Medical Center with serious physical injuries, according to the PBSO.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue was also called to the 5000 block of Southwest 18 at 8:50 a.m. in another crash west of Boca Street where two cars collide.

One person was taken to a local trauma center.
