Rubén Martínez, a Cuban pilot, landed a single-engine Russian Antonov AN-2 plane at the Dade-Collier airfield, located in southern Florida

MIAMI.- A Cuban pilot landed this Friday in southeastern Florida, in the United States, with a Russian-made plane and declared himself a deserter, airport authorities reported.

The CiberCuba media, which was the first to break the news, identified the aviator as Rubén Martínez and said that he worked for the Cuban Air Services Company (ENSA).

The Antonov An-2 belonging to the Cuban Air Services Company in which Martínez fled, is generally used to fumigate sugar cane and rice crops, reported CiberCuba.

So far it is unknown what will happen to Rubén Martínez.
