Mbappé still hurts the defeat against Argentina

PARIS-. kylian mbappe perhaps forever regret the defeat of France at the end of the recent world Cupbut denies having any hard feelings for the way Argentina celebrated, and won’t let the mishap affect his performance with the Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez has received a wave of criticism from those who consider his celebrations excessive. He carried a doll with Mbappé’s face on parade with Lionel Messi and the rest of the Argentine team on their triumphant return to their country.

“Dibu” Martínez, who also made a phallic allusion with the trophy that was awarded to him as the best goalkeeper after the final, was also recorded making fun of Mbappé in the locker room, after the game.

“Those celebrations are not my problem. Energy should not be wasted on these trivial things”, Mbappé said on Wednesday night, after the victory of the psg against Strasbourg. “The most important thing is to give the best I can for the club.”

Mbappé became only the second player in history to score a hat trick in a World Cup final. However, he was defeated on December 18, when Messi’s Argentina won a tense penalty shootout, necessary after a 3-3 draw.

The French star converted from 11 steps, but his grief was evident after the defeat. He sank to the bench and then sleepwalked across the court.

“I don’t think one ever really digests this. But as my coach and my teammates (at PSG) told me, there is no reason for my club to pay the price for a setback with the national team,” Mbappé said. “It was a difficult moment… But PSG is not responsible for our defeat. I tried to come back with the best energy possible, and showing myself positive”.

Mbappé showed his serenity again on Wednesday on the penalty spot. He converted in injury time as the French league leaders beat Strasbourg 2-1 at home.

“I didn’t have a fantastic game, but I kept believing and trying,” Mbappé said.

He added that there was a different pressure in taking a penalty for PSG in the 96th minute.

“They are different sensations and scenarios. This time it was a penalty that meant victory, ”he commented. “The message is clear: Regardless of what happened to the national team, PSG is something else, and I am determined to bring all the trophies to the capital.”

Even Mbappé said he was eager to play again at Messi’s side.

“We will wait for Leo to come back, so we can start winning games together again and we can score goals,” he said.

Messi was given additional rest by PSG, in order for him to celebrate in Argentina. He is expected to return to practice next week.
