Multiple out-of-state warrants detained in downtown Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale, Florida. (WSVN) – Police have arrested a man with multiple warrants from Texas, leading them to close several streets in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

7News cameras captured video of the crime scene at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, with a cordon near Las Olas Boulevard near Federal Highway South.

According to Fort Lauderdale police, they received a call around 3:30 p.m. from a bail bond in Texas about a felony suspect in South Florida who had a warrant from the Lone Star State .

Investigators confirmed they had safely detained one person, but gave no further details.

Cameras captured SWAT and K-9 units at the scene.

Police asked several people living in areas that have been cordoned off to wait on the other side of the road while they investigate, but they have since been allowed to resume normal activities. Streets are expected to reopen to pedestrian and vehicle traffic soon.
