Police: Footballer arrested after punching referee and kicking him in the head

Miami-Dade County, Florida – Miami-Dade County police arrest a football player who was caught on camera kicking the referee.

According to the police report, after a Jan. 8 football game at Kendall Soccer Park, located at 8011 SW 127th Avenue, Nelson Aviles-Roron, 33, approached the referee and began insulting him.

Police said the confrontation escalated and Aviles-Roron punched and kicked the referee in the head after he fell to the ground.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and took the referee to a nearby urgent care center for treatment.

Alvies-Rolon turned himself in to police on Tuesday, two weeks after the incident.

He was taken to the Knight Correctional Center in Turner Guilford, northwest of Miami-Dade, and faces multiple counts of assault.
