Speeding motorcyclist killed in Hillsboro crash, Mounties say

A 36-year-old man from Riverview died Friday after a high-speed car crash in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Causeway Boulevard at “high speed” when the agency said he was trying to overtake a pickup truck and crashed into the rear of the vehicle around 2:39 p.m.

The motorcycle overturned east of South 86th Street and the man was thrown, the Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The cyclist was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

The truck driver fled the scene after the crash, the news release said.
