Pompano Beach, Florida – A 22-year-old man was allegedly arrested months later Shot a woman on her 20th birthdaythe authorities announced this week.
The shooting occurred just after 3:00 a.m. on August 14, 2022.
Representatives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to two ShotSpotter alerts in the area of North Cypress Road and Copans Road near the 40th block of NE 23rd Street in Pompano Beach.
Shortly after, the victim, Anaysha Donjoie of Lauderhill, called 911 to say she had been shot and was driving to Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach.
Donjoie was taken to the hospital by emergency room staff after his car crashed into a tree on the hospital grounds.
BSO spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis said doctors exhausted all life-saving measures and Donjoie was pronounced dead at 3:24 a.m.
Pompano Beach suspect Owen DeLisma was arrested the same day in Broward County for violating pre-trial conditions unrelated to the fatal shooting, according to St. Louis.
She said detectives had spent months solving Donjoie’s murder and a warrant was issued for Delisma last November.
Delisma faces first-degree murder charges and is being held without bond at the Broward County General Jail.
St. Louis did not immediately say whether detectives had established a motive for the shooting or how they connected DeLisma to the crime.
Friends of Donjoie told Local 10 News last year that she left behind a 4-year-old daughter.
