Deerfield Beach, Florida – An investigation is ongoing following Wednesday’s shooting in Deerfield Beach.
The incident happened in a park near the 400 block of 2nd Street SW.
The park where the children played was packed with Broward Sheriff’s deputies and undercover officers.
Detectives can be seen on the grounds where neighbors say a teenager was shot.
“A young man was playing and all of a sudden, he was lying on the ground and he was shot in the head,” neighbor Terry Scott said.
People in the area said the victim, a teenager, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, investigators said.
Scott heard gunshots and said it happened in broad daylight, just after 5pm
“Children and old people, playing and walking, that’s why we have to stop this now. We can’t let this continue,” he said.
People in the Deerfield Beach community told Local 10 News Wednesday night that they were concerned for the children in the community.
Authorities have not provided any information on possible suspects or updated the victim’s situation.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
