Two Kissimmee men shot dead over business dispute, Polk sheriff says

Two Kissimmee men shot and killed each other Thursday in Lakeland over a business dispute, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Business partners Akeido Bennett, 31, and Xavier Figueroa, 39, were involved in an ongoing dispute when they opened fire at a business in the 3100 block of US 92 East in Lakeland, the sheriff’s office said.

Bennett died at the scene, while Figueroa left the company in a truck, but also died later.

“This is a tragedy that could have been avoided due to a rift between business partners,” Polk Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement. “We all have an obligation to our friends, family and friends. The whole society speaks out, not resorting to violence. These people are alive today, and their families would not grieve if they had resolved their differences civilly.”

No other details were released. The shooting is still under investigation.
